Overwhelmed and Out of Control,

How You Can Get Your Life Back

I want to help you enjoy your life again.

In our time, I can explain what it feels like to be overwhelmed.

Then I give you 2 tools for getting it under control again.

One tool is Shelving Your Shoeboxes. If you walked into your closet and 100 shoeboxes were thrown about with lids here, boxes there, Left shoes over there, Right shoes somewhere else. That is overwhelming. If you walk into your closet and all the boxes are neatly shelved. You can take one down at a time. it is not overwhelming. This is the visual for compartmentalization. No one stress is overwhelming, it is only when you let the stresses lump together. Shelving Your Shoeboxes helps you not to lump.

The second tool is the S-Curve. This curve shows the audience that 1 stress, 2 stresses, 3 stresses is not overwhelming but adding a 4th stress puts you over the top and you feel overwhelmed and out of control. You have no coping skills left so any little stress becomes enormous. With the curve I can show people getting rid of only one stress can get you back in control. Raising your coping skills can shift the whole curve or reducing your perception of the severity of all the stresses can get you back in control.

I am Gary Sprouse, MD, “The Less Stress Doc”. I have been a primary care physician for 35 years. I work in a rural part of Maryland with limited resources. There aren’t enough psychologists so I had to acquire the skills necessary to help my patients. I spent 25 years reading, studying and applying my knowledge to help my patients.

Traditional advice was not getting the results I wanted. There had to be something better.

And then I found it. The unique perspective on stress that NO ONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT. THE MAJORITY OF HUMAN STRESS IS A SIDE EFFECT TO OUR AMAZING SKILLS.

As a human, you can look into the future. It is a skill that has brought humans great success. But, the side effect of that skill is you have to Worry about the future. Traditional advice says “live for today”. But that implies you give up your skill of looking into the future because it has a side effect.

Based on my unique insight, I fashioned tools to keep the skills and get rid of or reduce the side effects.

I developed a toolbox of precise tools for the task. They are effective because they get to the origin of the stress.

My tools help you reduce the side effects of your skills and get back to enjoying your life again.

If you think I can help you, let me know.
